There is plenty of time to visit the impressive Krumlov Castle or knock back a Pilsener or two. | | Days 5-7 | Prague | Stroll along Charles Bridge, shop for Bohemian crystal or relax in an atmospheric jazz bar. We also head to the nearby Sedlec Ossuary, with its startling array of bone sculptures. | | Day 8 | Teplice | An overnight stop at our village hideaway gives us the chance to go hiking among the region's bizarre rock formations. | | Days 9-10 | Krakow | Pay respect to lives lost at Auschwitz, en route to Krakow. The former home to Polish kings retains a regal feel today, courtesy of the magnificent Wawel Castle. | | Days 11-12 | Tatras Mountains | Head to the alpine town of Tatranska Lomnica, our base for hikes in the Tatras Mountains. | | Day 13 | Bratislava | Embark on a fountain trail or visit Bratislava Castle in Slovakia's charming capital. | | Days 14-15 | Budapest | There is much to delight the traveller in Budapest, but Chain Bridge stands out for its spectacular views. Be sure to indulge in a thermal bath. | | Days 16-17 | Novi Sad | Located on the shores of the Danube, surrounded by fertile farms and vineyards, Novi Sad is a gem. Take a stroll through town to the Petrovaradin Fortress, and enjoy plenty of time to just relax. | | Days 18-19 | Belgrade | Learn all about the history of this ancient 'white city', visit the local markets or check out the impressive Kalemegdan Fortress. | | Days 20-22 | Sarajevo | Shrugging off the memories of war, vibrant Sarajevo is emerging as one of Europe's most beguiling cities. We introduce you to its charms on an orientation walk, also visiting some local thermal springs. | | Day 23 | Ostrog Monastery | Set in a rock cliff, the stunning Ostrog Monastery is a popular destination for pilgrims and a wonderful opportunity to experience the mountain and mingle with other travellers. | | Days 24-26 | Budva | This beachside town is a great place to unwind. Take a boat tour of the Bay of Kotor, and enjoy a plunge into the balmy waters of the Blue Grotto. | | Days 27-28 | Dubrovnik | The Old Town's network of cobbled alleyways is sure to charm.
