Days 1-2Sestri LevanteSet upon the Bay of the Fables and the Bay of Silence, Sestri Levante is the picturesque town where this Riviera walking adventure begins. Explore the medieval streets, wander along the promontory, admire the curious trompe-l'oeil painted buildings or relax on the town's beautiful beaches.
Day 3Sestri Levante to ChiavariA coastal path leads to the elegant 13th century Basilica of San Salvatore dei Fieschi. Admire its lovely rose window before heading into the medieval heart of old Chiavari, home of the famed Chiavari chair and excellent seafood restaurants. The town also has a vibrant fresh produce market most days of the week.
Day 4Chiavari to RapalloWander along slate-paved paths, through olive groves and past small rural churches and farms, before descending into fashionable Rapallo - a town well-known for its delicate lace. Or take an alternative route, high above the coast, for spectacular views of Rapallo's bayside castle.
Days 5-6Rapallo to Paraggi/PortofinoQuiet paths and alleys lead around the bay to Santa Margherita Ligure, a popular seaside resort with a beautiful harbour. There is time to stop and swim before moving on to the tiny cove of Paraggi. From here make a visit to exquisitely pretty Portofino, a fishing village and one of the most stylish holiday destinations in the world.
Days 7-8Paraggi to CamogliThe final walk passes ruined mills and pine-shaded paths with lovely views down to the 11th century monastery of San Fruttuoso. Visit the monastery and cool off in the sea before climbing through woods and terraces to charming Camogli.
