Day 1KathmanduThe streets of Old Kathmandu are scattered with temples and sacred cows.
Day 2ThimphuBhutan's peaceful capital has no traffic lights. See the National Library's priceless collection of Buddhist manuscripts and the golden-spired Memorial Chorten.
Days 3-4PunakhaCross the Dochu La Pass and take in spectacular views of the Bhutan Himalayas. Stop to learn the interesting history of Chimi Lhakhang, or 'temple of the divine madman'.
Day 5Gangte RegionJourney across the Pele La to Gangte. Explore Phobjikha Valley, a truly rural area without telephones or regular power.
Days 6-7ParoHome to Bhutan's unusual red rice, Paro is base for exploring the ruins of Drugyal Dzong and dramatic Ta Dzong.
Days 8-9KathmanduReturn to Kathmandu to visit Durbar Square and Swayambhunath monkey temple.
