Itinerary
DayDestinationDescription
Days 1-2MadridDive straight in to Spanish life with a delicious tapas dinner at a local restaurant. There's plenty to see and do in Madrid: galleries, churches, museums or perhaps do as the locals do and chill out in the Parque del Retiro.
Days 3-4GranadaExplore Granada's impressive Alhambra Palace or soak up the town's Moorish heritage on a walk through the labyrinthine alleyways of the Albaicin. With free time to do your own thing in the afternoon, you might like to visit the grand Cathedral. Perhaps in the evening, head out to see another of Spain's cultural icons, fiery Flamenco dancing!
Days 5-7Costa del SolWith sun, sea and surf to entertain us, the next few days are spent on the aptly named Costa del Sol (Coast of Sun). We take a day trip to some spectacular caves - but in the end, the call of the coast brings us back to Spain's beautiful beaches.
Day 8-9Ronda and GrazalemaHead inland and upwards to the white-washed town of Ronda, perched precariously on the edge of a gorge. Take a walk across one of the gorge's bridges, visit the Roman baths or learn about life as an outlaw in the intriguing Museum of Bandits. From the quaint town of Grazalema, hike through the hills and hope to spot wild mountain goats.
Days 10-11Costa de la Luz -TarifaBack on the coast we head to a little piece of England in Spain, Gibraltar. Venture well past the rock on an optional day trip - across the Strait of Gibraltar and all the way to Morocco.
Days 12-13SevilleAfter climbing the stairs of Seville's grand cathedral for sweeping views over the town, be sure to visit the Alcazar. Or you could take a step back in time to the days of Spain's great explorers at the Isla Magica amusement park.
Days 14-15CordobaJudaism, Christianity and Islam all combine in the ancient capital of Al-Andalus. Visit the Great Mosque, a stunning building covered in golden mosaics with a 16th century cathedral within its walls. Tonight, celebrate your adventure with a final Spanish feast.
