Depart Alice Springs and enjoy a short stop at the Camel Farm to learn about the contribution camels had in opening up remote Central Australia. Continue to Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon journey to the magnificent domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), where 36 dramatic rock formations dominate the western skyline of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Take a guided walk along the creekbed between the striking red walls of Walpa (Olga) Gorge. Some plants within the gorge are so rare that they are only found here. Late in the afternoon, travel to Uluru to watch the sunset. A glass of wine will be served while you view one of Australia's greatest icons. Day 2: Uluru at Sunrise, Mala Walk, Mutitjulu, Kantju Gorge & Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Center
This morning, head to Uluru to watch the second act of the famous Uluru light show, this time from its eastern side at sunrise. See the first light of day strike its surface and set it ablaze with color. Take a guided walk to the waterhole of Mutitjulu. View Aboriginal rock paintings and hear the ancient legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Tour the base of Uluru before joining your guide to learn about the region's geology and flora on the Mala Walk. Explore Kantju Gorge. Or, forgo the guided Mutitjulu and Mala walks to climb to the summit of Uluru. Later visit the Cultural Center to learn more about this ancient culture.
