Day 1Depart USATue or Sat. MIAMI-SAN JOSE : Departs U.S.A for San Jose, Costa Rica. Arrive and transfer to hotel Grano de Oro. Orientation and briefing on next days activities.
Day 2Tiskita Jungle LodgeSUN. Tiskita Jungle Lodge : Early morning pick-up at your hotel by driver for single engine charter flight to Tiskita Jungle Lodge.(about 70 minutes flight time). Arrive at Tiskita mid-morning. While at Tiskita enjoy guided walks through the private rain forest and the exotic fruit farm with the resident guides. (B,L,D)
Day 3TiskitaTHU or MON TISKITA : There are also self-guided pamphlets available for the rain forest and the interesting life to be found in the tidal pools. The beach is beautiful and isolated - swimming recommended only at low tide. There are fresh water jungle pools to cool you off. The bird watching is fabulous - over 285 species have been identified around Tiskita. Slow down and relax in this beautiful place and you'll see why so many guests have described it as a "paradise on earth". Overnight at Tiskita Jungle Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 4TiskitaFRI or TUE TISKITA : Day at leisure to enjoy Tiskita or take an optional tour to Corcovado National Park and Sirena Ranger Station. The park has been called "the most biologically intense place on earth" by National Geographic. Conditions are hot and humid. (B,L,D)
Day 5Arenal VolcanoSat or WED. Tiskita-San Jose-Arenal Volcano : Early morning flight from Tiskita to San Jose where your driver meets you for a 3 hour scenic drive through mountains and rich agricultural lands to the Arenal Volcano, arrive at the Observatory Lodge. From here you have the best view of the volcano (it looms up directly in front of the Lodge) and of Lake Arenal. Various hikes are available here - through the forest to the nearby waterfall, to a lava flow which stopped moving in August 1992 . Or may opt to take a strenuous hike and canoe in the beautiful and mysterious crater lake of the extinct volcano Cerro Chato "next-door" to Arenal. In the evening visit the thermal pools of El Tabacon whose warm waters are heated within the volcano. Horses can be rented for riding through the cattle and macadamia farm or the 1992 lava flow. Arenal Observatory Lodge (B,L,D).
Day 6Monteverde Cloud ForestSun or Thu. Monteverde Cloud Forest : After a guided walk to the lava flows of Arenal Volcano, you depart mid-morning for Monteverde with lunch en route arriving in the late afternoon. An evening slide presentation provides an introduction to Monteverde, its community, flora and fauna. Overnight at hotel Fonda Vela or similar. (B,L,D).
Day 7Monteverde Cloud ForestMon or Fri. Monteverde Cloud Forest : In the morning your guide will take you through the Monteverde Reserve, home of the beautiful Resplendent Quetzal. There are at least 400 other bird species here, including the Three-Wattled Bellbird - not easily seen but frequently heard, over 100 species of mammals and over 2500 species of plants. What you will see most is misty forest with dense vegetation and majestic trees.. Orchids abound with over 300 species occurring here however many are tiny and inconspicuous while others thrive among the lush vegetation of the canopy 125 feet above the forest floor.. Overnight at hotel Fonda Vela or similar. (B,L)
Day 8San JoseTue or sat Monteverde Cloud Forest-San Jose : Morning at leisure until transfer to San Jose and to your hotel. Hotel Irazu or Grano de Oro.(B)
Day 9Return USAWed or Sun Jose- U.S.A : Transfer to the Juan Santamaria International Airport for your flight to USA. (B)
