Itinerary

Day	Destination	Description
Day 1	Depart USA	U.S.A-COSTA RICA : Depart U.S.A. for San Jose, Capital of Costa Rica. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel selected.
Day 2	Tortuguero	SAN JOSE-TORTUGUERO : In the morning, your guide will pick up from your hotel and from San Jose you will travel via bus going through high mountain plateaus, passing by Braulio Carrillo National Park and eventually winding down to the coastal plain with its rich banana plantations. Then by boat to Mawamba or Pachira Lodge for overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 3	Tortuguero	TORTUGUERO : After breakfast, you will board the riverboat for a 3-hour voyage through the quiet river and canal system that connects it with Costa Rica's rich tropical rain forest. You are likely to glimpse birds of startling beauty, including toucans and brilliantly colored parrots. Costa Rica has more than 800 species of birds, more than all of the United States and Canada combined, and your guide will help you identify them. Afternoon hike along the trail or visit the village of Tortuguero. (B, L, D.)
Day 4	San Jose	TORTUGUERO-SAN JOSE :You'll waken to the sounds of howler monkeys in the forest behind the Lodge. Then, after a big, family style breakfast transfer by boat and by car to San Jose and to your hotel. (B)
Day 5	Monteverde	SAN JOSE-MONTEVERDE : Early departure for an scenic 3-hour climb up the cool mountains to the Cloud Forest areas of Monteverde. Afternoon visit to the Park and guided walk. Overnight HOTEL MONTEVERDE or FONDA VELA (B)
Day 6	Monteverde	MONTEVERDE : Morning guided 4-hour walking tour of the Cloud Forest (bring comfortable walking boots or sneakers). Some 6 different ecological systems of flora and fauna, 320 varieties of birds and over 100 of mammals can be found in this area. (B)
Day 7	San Jose	MONTEVERDE-SAN JOSE : Depart Monteverde mid morning for San Jose. Arrive at your hotel in the early afternoon. (B).
Day 8	Return USA	SAN JOSE-U.S.A : Transfer to the airport for flight to U.S.A and homeward bound. (B)
