 2009: COASTAL NEW ENGLAND (VGB)
7 days from Boston to Boston
Explore Boston, the relaxing beaches of Cape Cod, and the quaint seaside community of Newport. Start your journey in "Beantown." Visit historical sites such as Paul Revere's House, the U.S.S. Constitution, and Boston Common. Explore the Freedom Trail, shop at Quincy Market, and consider a cruise on Boston Harbor. Then, drive south to Cape Cod. Take a ferry across Nantucket Sound to Nantucket Island. Here you will enjoy the stunning 17th-century architecture, boutiques, art galleries, and museums. Catch a breeze on a sailboat, sign on for a seal-watching cruise, or rent a bike-a great way to discover the island on your own. Don't miss the Cape Cod National Seashore, featuring over 43,000 acres. Enjoy the 40-mile stretch of pristine beach, nature trails, lighthouses, and scenic overlooks. Take a walk on the beach or take a dip in the ocean! Then, head south for Newport, Rhode Island, known for its picturesque scenery and history. Enjoy a walk around the Newport waterfront area and enjoy the many charming boutiques, antique shops, and restaurants. Take the scenic Ten Mile Drive, where you can visit one of the many historic mansions in the area displaying elegant architecture, interior design, and landscaping. Astor's Beechwood Mansion and The Breakers are highlights. While at The Breakers you will have easy access to the spectacular "Cliff Walk." Take a break and absorb the diverse scenery along this public access walk on the eastern shore of Newport.
